Emily Madghachian
Kids' Theatre Works! Founder

Emily first moved to Dubai as a young girl with her family in 1982. With an enthusiasm for Drama and Theatre that started at a young age, Emily decided to fuel her passion for the dramatic by studying for a BA in Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada where she earned her Honours degree.

It was whilst at University that Emily realized her enthusiasm for Drama lay in helping to nurture children's creative ideas and to bring out each child's unique potential. She is a firm believer that drama is instrumental in developing life skills and preparing them for a successful and fulfilled life.

In 2002 Emily began to provide after school Creative Drama workshops at various Dubai Primary Schools. Not content with only reaching children at certain schools Emily went in search of a venue where all children could come and experience the power of play.

In 2006 Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre opened its doors at Mall of the Emirates and Kids' Theatre Works! found it's base.

Keda Zeat Kane
Youth Theatre Co-Founding Director - Factory Theatre Ensemble (FaTE)

Keda began her life in the Arts from the age of 2 when she started dancing lessons at Bev-Lyn in her home county of Cornwall, England. She added Drama during primary school and started at a Saturday Drama group. On joining secondary school Keda also took up Music lessons playing the flute to complete her interest in the Performing Arts.

At 14 years old Keda joined Cornwall Youth Theatre company outside of school to accompany studying Drama and then Theatre Studies within school at GCSE and A Level. This passion then continued at 18 when Keda moved to London to study Modern Drama Studies at Brunel University.

Following a year out in Cornwall working as a Teaching Assistant in Redruth School: A Technology College, she then moved again to complete her PGCE and qualify as a Drama teacher at Reading University. This took Keda to become a Head of Drama at Brampton Manor, an inner city school in East London. During this time she was also a mentor for trainee teachers for Goldsmiths University, London and helped her school gain Specialist Arts Status.

After four years working in the UK, Keda made the move to Dubai and spent two years as the Head of Faculty: Arts and Sports at Emirates International School, Jumeirah and then moved to join the Drama team at JESS for two years. She also became an examiner for the IB Theatre diploma.

During her time teaching in Dubai, Keda was always at a loss for theatre opportunities to recommend to her students, especially those studying GCSE and IB Theatre. After a meeting with Emily Madghachian at Kids' Theatre Works!, Factory Theatre Ensemble was born and has been successful ever since.

Jess was born and raised in the Middle East; starting her journey into the Dramatic Arts with Kids’ Theatre Works back in 2005 at the age of 12. As one of Emily’s first teaching assistants she was able to experience first hand how improvised theatre nurtures creativity and instills core values into young minds.

After six years of involvement with Kids’ Theatre Works including attending classes, assisting with younger ones, performing and creating costumes and props for the annual ‘The Works’ showcase she moved to London in 2011 to peruse a degree in Drama at Kingston University.

After graduation Jessiny decided to use her expertise to work closely with children and young people to establish a caring and supportive environment for them to develop their life skills in a creative & fun way. This involved youth work initiatives with Young People Cornwall. Jess delivered quality outreach youth work that engaged young people, facilitated issue-based workshops and supported them in a creative capacity introducing dance workshops and other means of creative expression.

In November 2016 Jess decided it was time to return back to her roots and happily re-joined the Kids’ Theatre Works team, this time as their Theatre Instructor.
